Donations

On the 31st of May 2009 Michelle and I went along to Mid Kent Fisheries with some of the children. We were to be one of the recipients of the money raised over that weekend from the 'Fishing with the Stars' competition; this was the 2nd year running that we had been lucky enough to receive a donation.

Whilst talking to Mid Kent Fisheries and firming up the time and date Chris (from the fisheries) told me that it would in fact be Scott Maslen (Jack Branning of Eastenders) who would once again be presenting the cheque, we of course were delighted having met him last year.

I spoke with Chris about setting aside some time to talk with Scott about the possibility of him becoming a patron for Kent Kids Miles of Smiles. As we had met before and he knew something about us, I felt we had nothing to lose and so much to gain, from having him as a patron.

As you can imagine we were delighted that Scott agreed to become our patron, and we are thrilled to have our work recognised and endorsed by him, his dedication and commitment will be a huge asset to the charity and we are honored to welcome this popular star to our team. Our partnership will give us an amazing platform to increase awareness and reach further into the community. Increased awareness will help us to raise further funds to support and enhance the excellent work of Kent Kids Miles of Smiles.

We hope through the partnership our message will go county wide and that our children, young people and their families, who are at the centre of everything we do, will benefit from the increased support we can offer them.

Scott will be at the Music in the Garden event at Redwalls on the 26th July, to make his official announcement.

We look forward to seeing Scott and all of you there

I would like to start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year, and by saying thank you to the
KM Group for all their support over the last year, By following us all year and attending all of our events they have given us the opportunity to raise our profile, and reach further into the
community then ever. Fundraising at the moment is probably the hardest its been for some time, but with the support of all our supporters in this newsletter and those who we simply
don't have the room to fit in we are still able to provide the much needed care that our very special children and young people need. Without you all we simply could not do that, your support means that we can help more children and young people every year. In the year to come we have some exciting things lined up, we will have our usual annual events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Golf Day and the Music in the Garden event that has grown each year and become a hit with you all. Also some new events such as the Kent Kids Bazaar, School Competition and the Inca Trail Trek which I myself will be taking part in along with 14 other people.
I look forward to seeing you all over the coming year and to celebrating a successful fundraising year.
